A Visit to: TIKILA | Stamford’s New Mexican Restaurant for Tacos, Cocktails & Boozy Brunch

If you’re looking for a fun new restaurant in Stamford, I’ve found one you need to add to your list.

Just off Red Lion Square, next to the Post Office and above Orbis, TIKILA is one of Stamford’s newest restaurants, bringing vibrant Mexican-inspired food, creative cocktails and a lively atmosphere to the town centre.

Whether you’re planning a date night, cocktails with friends or celebrating a special occasion, this colourful rooftop venue feels like something a little different for Stamford.

From the moment we walked in, it felt fun.

Bright colours, quirky décor, upbeat music and an impressive cocktail bar immediately set the tone. There’s even a rooftop terrace, giving you an outdoor dining space that’s perfect on a warm evening.

The team describe TIKILA as a place where great food, premium spirits and unforgettable cocktails come together, and after visiting, I’d say that’s pretty accurate.

If you’re a fan of tequila or rum, this is definitely somewhere to visit.

The cocktail menu goes far beyond the classics, with beautifully presented drinks, plenty of theatre and lots of tropical flavours. Expect margaritas, frozen cocktails, rum-based creations and signature house serves alongside a great selection of premium spirits.

One thing I really loved is that many of the cocktails can be tailored to your taste. Whether you prefer yours virgin (non-alcoholic), mild, hot or even extra hot, the team are happy to tweak them to suit you. I'll take my extra hot please!

The presentation alone makes them worth ordering, but thankfully, they taste just as good too.

Now for the important part… the food.

The tacos instantly transported me back to one of my favourite taco restaurants in Amsterdam, but right here in Stamford.

The menu is straightforward, easy to navigate and reasonably priced, making it ideal whether you’re popping in for a quick bite or making an evening of it. Street-style soft-shell tacos and small plates from around £8-£10, loaded nachos, tater tots and the corn ribs (my favourite!), with sharing plates perfect for groups, and churros to finish

I literally haven’t stopped talking about the corn ribs since we left.

If you’re anything like me, order a selection of smaller dishes and share everything around the table.

TIKILA also offers a Saturday Boozy Brunch that’s perfect for birthdays, hen parties or catching up with friends.

For £39.50 per person, you’ll receive one brunch dish or boozy bowl plus up to five cocktails over a 90-minute sitting.

Is it worth visiting? Absolutely.

Stamford has gained a brilliant addition to its restaurant scene.

If you enjoy authentic Mexican flavours, excellent cocktails and restaurants with plenty of personality, TIKILA is well worth a visit. The prices are reasonable, the atmosphere is lively without feeling overwhelming, and it’s somewhere that works equally well for date nights, celebrations, or simply meeting friends for tacos and cocktails.

I’d happily go back just for the corn ribs… another spicy margarita wouldn’t hurt either.

How to find it? It’s just off Red Lion Square, next to the Post Office, above Orbis.
