A Visit to: Sip & Paint at The Finches Arms, Hambleton, with Gretel Marlena

Looking for something a little different to do in Rutland? Whether it’s a girls’ night out, a date night or simply a bit of time to yourself, a sip and paint evening is such a lovely way to spend an evening.

I recently headed to The Finches Arms in Hambleton for a Halloween-themed workshop with the incredibly talented artist and designer, Gretel Marlena. We spent the evening painting ceramic pumpkins, sipping fizz and getting creative.

I actually went along on my own, and it was so lovely to do something just for me!

The idea was to paint a ceramic pumpkin, and I decided to go for a spider theme for Stanley’s bedroom. It sounded like a great idea until I picked up the paintbrush! It was definitely trickier than I expected, but that’s all part of the fun.

It was lovely to switch off for a few hours, enjoy a glass of fizz and focus on something completely different. You certainly don’t need to be an artist to take part, and I think that’s what makes these workshops so enjoyable.

I’d happily recommend it whether you’re planning an evening with friends or fancy going along on your own, as I did.

The Next ‘Sip and Paint’ workshop… Christmas Baubles!

If you fancy giving it a go, the next sip and paint evening at The Finches Arms is getting festive!

Gretel will be hosting a Christmas-themed workshop where you can paint your own baubles, enjoy a glass of champagne and get into the Christmas spirit.

The workshop takes place on 25th November at 6.30 pm and costs £35 per person, including a complimentary glass of Champagne.

How to book? Call The Finches Arms on 01572 765575 to enquire about availability and reserve your place.

If you’re looking for Christmas activities in Rutland, a different kind of girls’ night out or something fun to do near Oakham, this could be just the thing.

I really enjoyed my evening and came away feeling like I’d done something a little different. Sometimes, it’s lovely to step away from the usual routine, try something new and have a bit of creative fun.

So, if you’re looking for things to do in Rutland, keep an eye out for the workshops and events happening at our local venues.

Would you give a sip and paint evening a go?

Charlie x
