A Visit to: One of the UK’s Best Halloween Family Days Out for 2026? | Rusty’s Great Pumpkin Patch at Worzals
Some places are worth travelling a little further for, and after visiting Rusty’s Great Pumpkin Patch at Worzals, I can completely understand why so many families recommended it to us!
Located on the A47 near Wisbech, on the Norfolk and Cambridgeshire border, it’s around an hour or more by car from Rutland, depending on where you’re travelling from and the traffic. It’s a fantastic Halloween day out for families looking for something a little different this October.
After hearing so much about this incredible Halloween attraction last year, we finally decided to see what all the excitement was about. And it’s safe to say, it certainly didn’t disappoint!
With over 80,000 pumpkins, eight immersive themed experiences, live character encounters, dinosaurs, interactive games and an enormous undercover play area, Rusty’s Great Pumpkin Patch is SO much more than your traditional pumpkin patch.
In fact, it feels more like stepping into a Halloween theme park than heading out to pick a pumpkin!
We visited with Stanley, who absolutely LOVES Halloween, and from the moment we arrived, there was something exciting waiting around every corner.
If you’re looking for the best Halloween attractions for children in the UK, pumpkin picking near Rutland, or a family-friendly day out in Norfolk or Cambridgeshire during October half term, this is definitely one to add to your bucket list.
What makes Rusty’s Great Pumpkin Patch stand out is just how much thought has gone into creating the experience.
Rather than simply arriving at a field filled with pumpkins, you’re taken on an immersive adventure through a series of themed areas, each completely different from the last.
There are incredible decorations, interactive experiences, games, live characters and countless opportunities for photographs. It’s wonderfully imaginative, and you can tell that a huge amount of effort has gone into creating something memorable for families.
One of the things we particularly loved was collecting stamps for Stanley’s passport as we made our way around the attraction. It’s such a simple idea, but it gives children another little adventure to enjoy as they explore.
For 2026, Worzals has created eight themed experiences, each bringing something different to your Halloween adventure.
Your journey begins at Hurstmore Graveyard, with spooky headstones, mysterious pathways and atmospheric decorations providing a wonderfully Halloween-inspired introduction.
Then there’s the Cowboy Jamboree, a Wild West town complete with rustic buildings, characters and interactive games. Families can also discover the Villains’ Encounter, featuring larger-than-life storybook villains, alongside Plaza de la Familia, a colourful Mexican-inspired celebration filled with music, vibrant decorations and family activities.
But one of our absolute highlights was Raptor Ridge! 🦖
Now, if you’ve got a dinosaur-loving child, this part alone is probably enough to convince you to visit.
Hidden within the Halloween adventure is an entire prehistoric experience, complete with velociraptors, dinosaurs, an interactive Touch & Feel Lab and an abandoned ranger’s cabin.
There’s even a dinosaur dig, which Stanley absolutely LOVED!
What impressed me most was how well this area fitted into the wider experience. It could easily have felt like a completely separate attraction, but instead it’s another fantastic surprise waiting along the trail.
For Stanley, who loves both Halloween and dinosaurs, it was pretty much the perfect combination!
Of course, no pumpkin patch would be complete without PUMPKINS! 🎃
And Worzals certainly doesn’t do things by halves.
With over 80,000 pumpkins throughout the attraction, there are pumpkins absolutely everywhere, from tiny little ones to enormous pumpkins that make brilliant family photographs.
The displays are fantastic, and whether you’re visiting with toddlers, older children or simply love everything about autumn, it’s difficult not to get caught up in the excitement.
Even better, every admission ticket includes one pumpkin to take home!
Another brilliant addition is the enormous undercover play area, complete with slides, climbing equipment, a zip line and plenty of space for children to burn off even more energy.
It’s particularly good if you’re planning to make a proper day of your visit, although children wanting to use the play area will need the additional play area ticket, which includes one hour of play.
There’s also an electric tractor track, carnival games, hook-a-duck, a scavenger hunt and face painting.
One thing I would definitely recommend is preparing to spend a little extra as you make your way around the attraction.
Although your admission ticket includes access to the main Halloween experience, there are additional games and activities along the way that cost a little more, with some starting from as little as £1 during our visit.
It’s all part of the fun, and there are opportunities to win prizes too, which Stanley particularly enjoyed! But if you’ve got children who want to have a go at everything, those extra pounds can soon add up.
For example, the electric tractor rides cost £2, hook-a-duck is £4 with a guaranteed prize, and face painting costs £6.50.
I’d recommend taking a little extra spending money and some £1 coins, so you can enjoy a few of the additional activities without any surprises.
And there’s certainly no shortage of places to stop for something to eat!
Bertha’s Coffee & Creamery serves everything from loaded fries and ice cream sundaes to milkshakes, luxury hot chocolates and freshly brewed coffee. There’s also Butterwands Bakery, offering freshly baked cookies and seasonal sweet treats.
If you’re planning to stay for lunch, Worzals also has its own Bar & Grill restaurant, which can be visited separately from the Pumpkin Patch.
One thing we noticed during our visit was just how busy things became around lunchtime. It’s definitely worth planning ahead, particularly if you’re visiting with younger children who aren’t the biggest fans of queuing!
Another huge advantage of Rusty’s Great Pumpkin Patch is that the entire Halloween attraction is undercover.
And let’s face it, that’s a pretty big selling point when you’re planning family activities during October in the UK!
Unlike traditional pumpkin patches, where you’re often battling muddy fields, puddles and unpredictable weather, Worzals has created an experience that families can enjoy rain or shine.
However, I would definitely recommend bringing plenty of layers. Although it’s undercover, some areas can still get quite chilly, particularly later in October.
The attraction is also accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs, with toilets, baby changing facilities and free parking available on site.
So, is Rusty’s Great Pumpkin Patch actually worth visiting?
Absolutely!
I think what makes this experience so special is that it offers something completely different from the usual Halloween activities.
We’re fortunate to have some wonderful pumpkin patches and autumn family attractions across Rutland, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire, but Rusty’s Great Pumpkin Patch really takes the whole experience to another level.
It’s immersive, wonderfully imaginative and packed with things for children to discover.
We particularly loved that there was something exciting around every corner. Rather than simply spending half an hour choosing a pumpkin, you’re exploring different worlds, meeting characters, playing games and making a proper family day of it.
It’s the sort of experience that children will talk about long after they’ve returned home.
And for families like ours, where Halloween is one of the most exciting times of the year, it’s a fantastic way to celebrate the season.
Considering the amount of entertainment included in the ticket price, particularly with a pumpkin to take home, we thought it offered great value for a family Halloween attraction. Just remember to budget for any additional games, activities, food and treats you might want along the way.
It’s suitable for families with toddlers, preschoolers and primary-school-aged children, although older children who enjoy Halloween, dinosaurs and immersive experiences will find plenty to enjoy too.
