Autumn Adventures at Belvoir Castle

There’s something undeniably magical about Belvoir Castle in the autumn with the promise of cosy adventures around every corner. If you’re tempted by the idea of an autumnal day out that blends fairytale charm, history, and seasonal fun, here’s a peek at what makes Belvoir so special and what’s on the schedule this season.

Belvoir’s very name comes from French – bel voir, meaning “beautiful view”, and it’s no exaggeration. Once you've ventured up the steep hill to the castle, you can gaze across the Vale of Belvoir, glimpsing Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and beyond. 

No matter how many times we visit, there’s always something new to explore, and this autumn was no exception.

The castle’s Teddy Bear Hunt, winding through rooms and corridors, which the children loved taking part in to get their very own sticker at the end for completing the trail.

After that came the Halloween Letter Trail, which led us across the adventure playground and down to the Engine Yard. At the finishing point, the children collected a complimentary lolly — how sweet!

What’s new this season: the castle’s pumpkin patch inside the animal park is a glorious touch. Stanley toddled among the pumpkins before we made our way over to visit little Stewart — the star of the show and friendliest cow you'll ever meet.

And I can’t forget Gary the goat, who provided much laughter.

Below the castle lies the Retail Village, Farm Shop and Bistro. I highly recommend the wood-fired pizzas!

Every visit to Belvoir feels a little different; every time you discover something different. For Stanley, each trip brings a new adventure and another ticked milestone.

What I love most is that Belvoir never stands still. The castle, gardens, shops and events are constantly evolving throughout the seasons.
