A wildlife park, rescue and rehoming centre with the UK’s largest variety of parrots, where you can also feed the animals and see lions, tigers, pumas and black leopards up close.

While on a winter staycation in Lincolnshire, I was on the hunt for out-of-season activities and stumbled across Lincolnshire Wildlife Park—a hidden gem open all year round. I had never heard of it before, but when I read that it’s home to lions, tigers, Nigel the three-legged puma and one of only two black leopards in the UK, I knew I had to visit. Oh, and did I mention it also houses the UK’s largest collection of parrots? How cool is that?

Spread across 25 acres, Lincolnshire Wildlife Park is not just a zoo—it’s a sanctuary dedicated to rescuing and rehoming exotic animals. It’s one of the world’s largest parrot rescues, with over 1,000 noisy and chatty parrots, many of whom have been surrendered by owners who could no longer care for them. Some even mimic human conversations, so don’t be surprised if you hear a cheeky “hello!” as you wander through.

But that’s just the beginning. You can also meet and even feed a variety of animals, including meerkats with their curious little faces, lemurs that leap and bound between trees, playful otters splashing around, reptiles of all shapes and sizes, capybaras, deer and other unexpected residents. And, of course, Cecil the very friendly tapir, who might just become your new best friend.

One of the most unforgettable parts of my visit was how close you can get to the animals. Unlike many wildlife parks, here you can stand just feet away from the magnificent big cats, including stunning white lions whose presence is nothing short of breathtaking. It’s not every day you can hand-feed a ring-tailed lemur or get a wave from a parrot with a serious personality—this place is truly special.

Ticket Prices: Adults: £14.95, Children: £10.50, OAPs: £12.95, Under 3s: FREE and Family Tickets: from £45. With Annual Passes available too.

I bought our tickets using my £1 @kids_pass trial for an extra discount.

If you’re in Lincolnshire or fancy a family-friendly day out, Lincolnshire Wildlife Park is just 90 minutes from Rutland—and absolutely worth the trip.

Have you been to Lincolnshire Wildlife Park before?

Using technology to increase access to youth mental health support may offer a practical way for young people to reach guidance, safe-spaces, and early help without feeling overwhelmed by traditional systems. Digital platforms, helplines, and apps could give them a chance to seek support privately, connect with trained listeners-orexplore resources that might ease their emotional load. This gentle shift toward tech-based support may encourage youth to open-up at their own pace, especially when in-person help feels too heavy to approach.

There is always a chance that these tools-quietly make support feel closer than before, creating moments where help appears just a tap-Berlinintim away. Even a small digital interaction might bring a sense of comfort. And somewhere in that space, you…
